New Year’s Day, Featuring the New Year Sprint - Sunday 1st January 2012
Edinburgh is famous for its spectacular Hogmanay celebrations on Princes Street, with a host of entertainment including live bands and a breathtaking display of fireworks over Edinburgh Castle to welcome in the New Year. Why not kick start 2012 with a difference and ‘first foot’ with a day at the races on Sunday 1st January 2012?
Continue Hogmanay celebrations with our superb hospitality packages coupled with top quality jumps racing, alongside one of the most historic athletics events in the world – The New Year Sprint. This highly competitive athletics competition is the most enduring open athletics event in the UK. A handicap race held over 110 metres, the Sprint has been staged in Scotland annually since 1870.
A typical day includes:
Racecourse Opens at 10:30am, first race at 12:10pm
The New Year Sprint begins at approx 1:30pm
The adult price for admission is £21 and includes admission, free parking and a free race programme - save £2 online and up to 20% on group bookings for group of 12 or more.
Accompanied children 17 years and under go FREE!
BOOK A BUS FOR £5 RETURN - we have arranged a couple of double decker buses from Edinburgh City Centre to the Racecourse and back so you dont have to worry about driving.
- 11.00am To Musselburgh Racecourse: Bus departs Waterloo Place, east end Princes Street, outside Apex Hotel.
- 3.45pm Return From Musselburgh Racecourse – outside the racecourse on Millhill Road in front of the turnstiles entrance

Please note that we have limited availability so bookings are strictly first come, first serve. All bookings must be made prior to midnight on Friday 30 December 2012.
You will be issued an e-ticket which must be presented to get onto the bus at both ends of the journey. Please be sure to bring this ticket / booking confirmation along with you as well as your ticket to get into the racecourse.
