£50,000 spent on improved toilets ready for Ladies Day - Wednesday 9th Jun 2010
Musselburgh Racecourse will make sure there are no losers at Ladies Day after spending £50,000 on improved toilet facilities.
The East Lothian track now has one of the smartest ladies loos in Scottish racing following the upgrade.
The work has been completed in time for the course’s annual Ladies Day on June 18 which is expected to attract a sell-out crowd.
Commercial manager at Musselburgh, Sarah Montgomery, said: “We’ve spent a sizeable sum of money to make sure Ladies Day guests are as comfortable as possible when spending a penny.
“Traditionally horse racing has been male dominated and racecourses reflected this in the bathroom facilities provided, but we are very focused on introducing more ladies to horse racing so this is money well spent.”
With only 200 general admission tickets still available for Ladies Day, the racecourse expects to put the Sold Out signs up this week.
The best dressed lady of the day – The Queen of Style – will win a £3000 cash prize while other luxury prizes are up for grabs in Jenners’ Fashion in the Field competitions which include Best Hat and best dressed gent.
