Racecourse of the Year 2012

We are very proud to have held our Investors in People Award since 1999. We have a strong and dedicated team of 10 full time staff, 6 permanent part time staff in addition to over 50 raceday staff. Everyone in our team plays a vital part in contributing to the success of Musselburgh Racecourse every day of the year.

Musselburgh Racecourse is managed by The Musselburgh Joint Racing Committee. As the operating body the Musselburgh Joint Racing Committee, rent the racecourse from East Lothian Council for a full commercial rent.

Contrary to popular perception there is no financial input from the local authority into the day to day running of the racecourse. This is managed by the dedicated team employed by The Musselburgh Joint Racing Committee.

In the last two years,  Musselburgh Racecourse has been recognised throughout the racing industry for the commitment to execellence across the track and facilities. In 2012 we were awarded the 'Betview Racecourse of the Year’, an award for providing the best experience for the betting and racing public, one which we are extremely proud of. For the second year running our groundsteam have been awarded the Dual Purpose award, for Flat and National Hunt tracks, by The Racecourse Association (RCA), proving that we are continuously working harder for the interests of all in the racing industry.

We communicate our aims, ambitions and vision to all of our staff, including all raceday staff and sub-contractors in order to maintain our 5 Star Visitor Attraction award for the 8th year running as we are the only racecourse in the UK to hold this prestigious award. We are committed to providing 'An Unrivalled Racing Experience' for all of our customers. Each year we strive to deliver that 5 star visitor experience across all of our racemeetings and recently we have introduced our Customer Care Team.
