Join us for an unforgettable afternoon featuring over £100,000 in prize money, including two of Scotland’s richest New Year races: the £50,000 Auld Reekie Handicap Chase and the £30,000 Hogmaneigh Hurdle. Feel the thrill of every stride as Scotland’s finest horses battle it out on the track.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Beyond the racing, immerse yourself in a full day of entertainment, live music and a lively ceilidh. After the final race, the celebrations carry on with a one-hour after-racing party, ensuring the festivities continue into the afternoon. Please note: Children 15 years and under go free, when accompanied by a guardian. This event is likely to sell-out so please ensure you secure your child tickets in advance. Child and concession tickets will not be available on the day. Young Adults aged 16 and 17 years required a Young Adult ticket.
Some frequently asked questions:
- On New Year's Day, we have a limited number of complimentary Personal Assistant tickets. These can only be obtained with a valid Carer’s ID or other carer documentation when accompanying a paying adult. Due to New Years Day being an annual sell-out, our Personal Assistant tickets will be on a first come, first served basis. They will not be available on the raceday and must be obtained in advance. To apply for one of these limited tickets, please email the team at enquiries@musselburgh-racecourse.co.uk.

Purchase your ticket before midnight on the 3rd September and SAVE £14. On the day price will be £50.00.
Children 17 years and under go free, when accompanied by a guardian. This event is likely to sell-out so please ensure you secure your child tickets in advance. Child tickets will not be available on the day.

£36.00Our Concession ticket is a general admission ticket that provides access to all public areas and a variety of options for places to eat, drink and bet.
Book before midnight 3rd September and SAVE £11pp. This event is likely to sell-out and if this happens, tickets will not be available on the gate, on the day.
Please Note: Appropriate Photo ID will be required when entering the racecourse for Concession tickets purchased.
Eligibility for concessions:
- Students: only with a valid student ID featuring a valid expiry date
- Senior citizens, aged over 65 with proof
- Carers go free with a valid Carer’s ID or other carer documentation when accompanying a paying adult or concession. There are limited carers tickets on New Year's Day, Edinburgh Cup and Ladies Day, which are first come first served.

£19.00Our Priority Early Bird Young Adult is our best ticket price. This is a ticket for attendees aged 16 and 17 years old on the day of the event and must be purchased alongside an adult or concession ticket. It is a general admission ticket that provides access to all public areas and a variety of options for places to eat and enjoy the atmosphere of a raceday. Please ensure you have a supervising adult. I.D will be required. Challenge 25 is in place.
