The month ends with back-to-back afternoon meetings on 29 and 30 August, with only a week long break before Musselburgh swings back in to action with the first of three September meetings on Friday 7 September.

Advance ticket sales for Friday Night at the Races, which features an afterparty hosted by DJ Iain Waugh, are up on the previous year and a 3000-plus crowd is expected, which will be buoyed by the forecast return of high summer temperatures.

Racing gets underway at 5.40pm on Friday with a 1m 5 furlong contest and the feature race is the £13,000 Bernard Hunter Mobile Cranes handicap over 5 furlongs at 7.20pm.

The following Friday, the Archerfield Cup Race Day features seven races and £75,000 in prize money, including the 2m £30,000 feature race at 4.10pm, supported by a £12,500 five furlong dash.

Musselburgh Racecourse general manager, Bill Farnsworth, said: “After a slight lull following a very successful Stobo Castle Ladies Day in early June, it is back to business with seven meetings taking place over the next two months and then the final meeting of the Flat season on 15 October.

“It has been another successful and satisfying summer season and with continuing good weather we expect to see more people coming racing to enjoy the special atmosphere and spectacle of live turf racing at Musselburgh.”

Advance tickets for Friday Night at the Races are discounted by £5 until midnight on 2 August against the race day admission of £22. Free courtesy buses will operate between Wallyford and Newcraighall train stations to transport racegoers to and from the racecourse.
