Some of Scotland’s best senior golfers are swapping putters for a punt at Musselburgh Racecourse’s Friday Night At the Races (4 Aug.)
Competitors in the Scottish Senior Open Championship, which takes place at North Berwick’s Renaissance Club at the weekend, will be guests at Musselburgh following conclusion of the first day’s play.
Included in the 25th anniversary field are former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance, 2015 Senior Open champion Paul Broadhurst and 1991 Masters Champion Ian Woosnam.
The golf stars will have a keen interest in the five furlong 25 Years of the Scottish Senior Open Nursery Handicap (7.50pm) and players will select the Best Turned Out horse and will be in the Parade Ring to present the winning connections with their prizes.
Defending Seniors champion, Paul Eales, said: “As sportsmen, we always take an interest in other sports and we are keen to see a great race for the Scottish Senior Open Nursery Handicap.”
The action-packed evening starts with gates open at 3.30pm and the first race is off at 5.40pm. An Early Bird ticket offer with reduced admission price of £18 is available when booking in advance.
Admission to the Scottish Senior Open is free (4-6 August) but there is a car parking charge which goes to Prostrate Cancer UK. Anyone producing a Musselburgh Racecourse racecard from Friday will receive a 50% discount on parking at the Renaissance Club.
