The bet365 Scottish Cheltenham Trials Raceday - day 2

Sunday 1st February 2026

The countdown to the Cheltenham and Grand National Festivals starts here. Day two of the Scottish Cheltenham Trials Weekend delivers elite jumps racing, drawing some of the UK and Ireland's top trainers to compete for more than £400,000 in prize money.

Adding to the excitement, the raceday will take on a distinctly Irish flavour, celebrating the spirit and heritage synonymous with the Cheltenham Festival. Enjoy the infectious sounds of traditional Irish music from Savage Cabbage of Dougal’s Irish Pub, Portobello, and The Good Roosters from Dropkick Murphys Irish Bar, alongside spontaneous pop-up Irish dance performances around the racecourse, filling the day with colour, rhythm and the unmistakable energy of the Emerald Isle.

Sunday features the bet365 Edinburgh National, a key trial that consistently attracts contenders bound for both the Cheltenham and Grand National Festivals. This is the BIGGEST Cheltenham Trials in Scotland and one of the biggest trials in the UK.

In previous years, Musselburgh has showcased horses that have gone on to festival glory, including Frodon, Seeyouatmidnight, Mighty Thunder, Greanateen and most recently, Thistle Ask. We have also welcomed some of the sport’s biggest names, such as Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls, Lucinda Russell, Fergal O’Brien and Dan Skelton.

With an electric atmosphere, an excellent choice of places to eat and drink, and the opportunity to see the country’s top owners, trainers, jockeys and horses in action, this is a must-attend event for all jumps racing fans.

On Sunday 1st February, we are delighted to continue welcoming students from across Scotland on day two of the Scottish Cheltenham Trials Weekend. They will experience the thrill of jumps racing alongside our passionate regular racegoers, who are the best advocates for our sport. Following feedback, we have enhanced the raceday experience with additional bars for students, while racegoers holding regular raceday tickets can enjoy dedicated facilities, including The Rockavon bar and Café 1816.
