Watcha Matey, trained by Hugo Palmer, fairly romped away with the Edinburgh Cup in the hands of Paul Mulrennan.

Sent off at 7-2, the Cheshire raider saw off Whathappensinvegas, by a comfortable three lengths.

“He’s won in the style of an improving horse who will clearly stay further,” Mulrennan said. “He did it nicely at Newmarket and he’s come on again today.

Jabaara was an impressive winner of the £40,000 Listed Edinburgh Gin Queen Of Scots Fillies’ Stakes for Silvestre De Sousa and Roger Varian.

“She travelled really good & picked up nicely when I asked her,” the winning jockey said. “I got a great feel and she still seemed to have a bit left passing the line.”
