CRACKING DESTINY, sent off the 9-1 outsider of the party, was an emphatic winner of the Prince Philip Perpetual Challenge Trophy Handicap Chase at Musselburgh.

Ridden by Craig Nichol and trained by Ewan Whillans, he stormed home by four and three-quarters lengths from long-time leader Fidelio Vallis.

“He’s been a real star for us and even my daughter can ride him at home,” the Hawick handler said. “He was gifted to us by his previous owner and he’ll have a home for life here.

“He’s had a good year and I was thinking of giving him the rest of the winter off but we might come back to Musselburgh for a nice race on New Year’s Day.”

Iain Jardine was on the mark in the opening racingtv.com/freetrial Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle with Call Me Harry, who is co-owned by professional golfer Lee Westwood.

And Yetholm-based Sandy Forster was also successful with Dr Shirocco in the Start Your Racing TV Free Trial Now Novices’ Handicap Chase.

“He’s not very big but this is his second win over fences and he has a great attitude,” Forster said. “This was his first run since he won at Hexham in June so we’ll see what we can find next for him.”
