Musselburgh Racecourse has crowned another capacity sell-out Stobo Castle Ladies Day by extending a sponsorship deal with Scotland’s only destination health spa.

Stobo Castle has committed to a further five-year relationship with the East Lothian course’s premier summer raceday and the new agreement, worth around £150,000, will run from 2019 until 2023.

Located in the Scottish Borders, the Stobo Castle luxury brand has become synonymous with Musselburgh’s Ladies Day which attracts more than 10,000 style conscious racegoers each June and sells out every year.

TV personality and former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts joined model and former Miss Scotland Nicola Mimnagh on the judging panel of the Queen of Style event which celebrates the day’s best dressed lady. The winner, Mari Reid, of Falkirk, received a £3000 cash prize and the opportunity to drive a Toyota GT86 coupe sports car for a week.

The action-packed day offered more than £100,000 in racing prize money and the feature race, The Listed £40,000 Stobo Castle Ladies Day Gold Cup, was won by 20-1 shot Pepita ridden by Phillip Makin.

The sponsorship package includes a range of raceday title benefits, including three individually titled races, extensive branding opportunities and hospitality for guests in the Stobo Castle VIP marquee.

Musselburgh Racecourse senior operations and commercial manager, Sarah Montgomery, said: “Stobo Castle Ladies Day is now so firmly established on the Scottish social calendar as a date which equates with luxury and quality that guests make plans all year long to attend.

“Working closely with Stobo Castle we have developed a winning formula which benefits both our businesses and fine-tuned the offering to ensure the thousands of racegoers who enjoy Ladies Day are constantly surprised and can’t wait to come back.

“We are delighted Stobo Castle has opted to partner with us on Ladies Day until 2023 and we look forward to making the next five years as successful and ground-breaking as the first six.”

Jenni Watts, marketing director of Stobo Castle, said: “We have a close affinity with Musselburgh Racecourse and our ambition to provide a high-quality and unique visitor experience which lasts in the memory aligns perfectly with the racecourse’s own mission statement.

“Many of the 10,000 racegoers who attend Ladies Day each June are regular Stobo Castle clients or potential clients and we are delighted to saddle up again with Musselburgh for another five years’ of exciting glamour, fun, fashion and thrills.”
