The bet365 Scottish Cheltenham Trials Weekend on 2 and 3 February attracts contenders from the best UK stables who are aiming for the Cheltenham and Grand National Festivals.

With more than £240,000 in prize money over the Saturday and Sunday jumps racing festival, the East Lothian course has built up a strong reputation for hosting top grade race cards which attract the leading Newmarket and Irish stables who have their eye on the UK’s most challenging jumps fixtures.

At the Sunday meeting only, (3 Jan) students can book in advance for a scholarly £8.99 package (normal admission £30) which includes an alcoholic or soft drink, a race programme, a £2 Totebet voucher and a talk from a leading racing tipster. The package must be booked in advance and cannot be purchased on the day and failure to provide valid student ID will result in the full admission price being charged.

Musselburgh Racecourse marketing manager, Aisling Johnston, said: “We know students are working hard through the winter months preparing for the busy exam season, but a dose of fresh air and the excitement of watching one of Scotland’s top jumps meetings for just £8.99 is a win-win in anyone’s book.”

General racegoers who book in advance before midnight on 25 January will be eligible for an Early Bird admission which reduces the normal admission price by £10 to just £20.

And for those taking the train from Edinburgh Waverly or Galashiels, a free courtesy bus will run to and from Wallyford and Newcraighall rail stations.
