The William Haggas-trained handicap debutant came from last to first to beat Glen Again by a length and three-quarters.

Ayrshire-born Tudhope said: “That was a nice performance. The race wasn’t run to suit with a moderate gallop but he still picked up well when I set him alight.

“He’s a lovely prospect and did everything I asked him. It  was only his fourth time on a racecourse and you could see him going for something like the Melrose Handicap at York later in the season.”

Just Beautiful extended her unbeaten sequence to four from four as she made all the running to scoop the £37,000 Listed Maggie Dickson Stakes for fillies and mares.

After saddling his first winner at Musselburgh, trainer Ivan Furtado said: “She only cost 8,000gns so she’s turned out to be a bargain. Joey Haynes gets on well with her and he’s ridden her every time.

“That was her first time on grass today and it was a big step up in class but she’s done the job very well. We may look at Royal Ascot now and the Jersey Stakes although we would need to pay a supplementary fee as she drones hold an entry.”

Hollie Doyle rode her fourth winner at the East Lothian venue when scoring on well-backed Muntatab in the first seven-furlong handicap.

She said: “I also seem to do well up here and the ground was lovely. He’s a horse that has plenty of winning form and he battled on well for me.”
