His tally at the Scottish venue is now ten winners from just 19 rides and he said: “I’ve always been fairly lucky when I’ve come up and normally I’m on horses with decent chances. Skatman is a lovely young prospect and will make an exciting chaser in time. His point to point is pretty hot and I think Barbados Buck’s, who finished second to him, has a great chance in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham.”

Nick Alexander was on the mark with Not The Chablis in the William Hill Money Back Second Novices’ Handicap Chase. Sent off evens favourite, he slammed Lord Condi by four and a quarter length to  open his account over fences.

Kinneston-based Alexander said: “He’s been running well at Musselburgh all winter and proved he stays three miles after this so it opens up a few options. I’m not sure about coming back for the final meeting here but I’d imagine we could have fun with him once Perth’s season gets going.”
