Racing preview - The Summer Finale Raceday

NOVAK, trained by Iain Jardine and ridden by William Pyle, bids to recapture the winning habit in the feature race at Musselburgh on Saturday.

Already successful five times, including when completing a hat-trick earlier this summer, the Dumfriesshire raider will be making just his second appearance at the East Lothian venue in the Travis Perkins Handicap over seven-furlongs.

“He’s had a great year already and, at one point, went up 10ths for those three wins, which were all with William on board,” Jardine said. “His owner is from Ayr so it would be great to give him a run in Bronze Cup at her local track and the strongly-run six should suit as he’s won twice at seven-furlongs.”

Also in the line-up are Mike Smith’s pair Chookie Dunedin and Black Friday, the latter of whom scored for the first time in nearly two years at Ayr last month.

The ‘twilight’ card gets under way with Pyle partnering Hollis Brown for Linda Perratt in the Royal Regiment Of Scotland Trophy Apprentice Handicap.

Nick Bradley Racing are triple-handed in the national Racehorse Week Nursery Handicap with On Borrowed Time, Catena and Bellestarr but Seahorse Syd, a course and distance winner recently for Yorkshire handler Ollie Pears, could be the one to beat.
