There is plenty of winning course and distance form in the Thank You And Good Luck Persia Handicap as the curtain comes down on the 2025 Flat season in Scotland at Musselburgh.
Gweedore, Bellarchi, Kelpie Grey and Yaaser have all won over the East Lothian venue’s turning seven-furlongs while Monsieur Kodi landed a course handicap over the minimum trip on Easter Saturday two years ago.
Katie Scott-trained Gweedore has five Musselburgh wins to his name, including four over course and distance, two of which came in back-to-back victories in 2022 and 2023 in the Silver Arrow Handicap.
Grant Tuer’s Bellarchi is unbeaten in two visits to the track with his strikes both coming this season in August and last month with Jim Goldie-trained Yaaser gaining the third of his course and distance wins in July. Goldie’s Kelpie Grey won over seven furlongs and a mile at Musselburgh in the spring of last year.
The most valuable race on the card is the £30,000 EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes for two-year-olds.
Gay Kelleway has obviously been tempted by the decent prize money on offer as the Exning handler is triple-handed with Irish Incentive, India Gold and Twilight Baby.
And Jim Goldie’s Dwindling Funds bids for his seventh win in a fabulous campaign in the Close Brothers Energy Finance Handicap.
He only set foot on a racecourse for the first time in early April when coming last of eight in a maiden at Musselburgh and his rating has risen 22lbs since opening his account at Ayr in late July.
