Thunder Wonder scrambled home by a nose in a thrilling finish to the Edinburgh Cup at Musselburgh.

Already course winner on the Royal Mile Handicap on  Easter Saturday, the 4/1 chance, ridden by Joe Fanning just pipped Regalian on the nod.

The race came less than an hour after winning Charlie Johnston had seen Lazy Griff chase home Lambourn in the Derby and his father Mark said:

“It’s been quite an exciting few minutes! Thunder Wonder loves it here and he’s actually never lost at the track. He can get a bit excited at the start but Joe gave him a great ride.”

Jabaara, trained by Roger Varian, landed the Edinburgh Gin Queen Of Scots British EBF Fillies Listed Stakes for the second year running.

Sent off the 5/6 favourite, she led two out before holding off Arolla by a length.

“She’s a tough filly and in great form,” said winning jockey Silvestre De Sousa. “She seems to enjoy this way round  and she travelled well for me.

“She’s got a bit of class and is a Group filly. She was unlucky not to win a Group 3 at Goodwood last year as she got demoted to second after finishing first past the post.”

Jim Goldie’s Woohoo completed a hat-trick in the opening handicap dash.

The Uplawmoor raider previously won at Hamilton Park and Ayr for stable rookie Lauren Young and this time Paul Mulrennan did the steering on the 9/4 joint-favourite.

“The team have done a great job with her and she’s at the top of her game at the moment,” the winning jockey said. “She’s settling down a little bit better and i see she has an entry at Hamilton on Wednesday night.”

Katie Scott and Linda Perratt saddled other Scottish wins with Luna A Inbhir Nis and Keep Me Stable.
