Jim Goldie struck in the 1m 6f weatherbysshop.co.uk handicap with all-the-way winner Trojan Sun.

A well-backed 11/8 favourite, he was driven out by Paul Mulrennan to beat top-weight Pigeon House by a length and a half.

“He’s won here over 2m 2f so we know he stays well,” Goldie said. “Making the running and grabbing the rail is very advantages here as it forces the challengers to come wide, which is exactly what happened to us at Redcar last time.”

Meelaf showed a nice turn of foot to land the EBF Maiden Stakes for Karl Burke and Sam James.

A well-backed 4/ favourite, she quickened away to beat Kodigara by a length and a half.

“She just sort of flyleaped leaving the stalls at Newmarket and ain’t really suited by the track on her debut,” James said. “She’s got plenty of speed but she might get another furlong in time.”

Mulrennan completed a quick double when making all on Purple Martini for Ben Haslam in the Travis Perkins Edinburgh Handicap.

Katie Scott’s Luna A Inbhir Nis is set for a short break after following up Monday’s Ayr strike in the Weatherbys Global Stallion App Handicap to also give James a double.
