Musselburgh Set for Spectacular Edinburgh Cup Raceday

One of Scotland’s biggest summer race meetings is set to return to Musselburgh Racecourse next month as The Edinburgh Cup Raceday in partnership with Edinburgh Gin promises an afternoon of high-class racing, live entertainment and a vibrant social atmosphere.

Monday 25th May 2026

Taking place on Epsom Derby Day, Saturday 6 June, prize money has been increased to almost £190,000 for a fixture which has rapidly established itself as one of the standout events on the sporting and social calendar.

The seven-race meeting combines competitive racing, fashion and food, to appeal to racing fans, groups of friends and family, and regularly attracts a 6,000 attendance.

The feature contest, the £50,000 Edinburgh Cup staged over 1 mile and 1 furlong, draws a competitive field and headlines a card which also includes the £60,000 Edinburgh Gin British EBF Queen of Scots Stakes.

The Queen of Scots Stakes, a Class 1 Listed contest over seven furlongs for fillies and mares, has become recognised as an important stepping stone towards Royal Ascot and some of the biggest Flat racing festivals of the summer. Another highlight is the £30,000 Edinburgh Gin Hugo Spritz Handicap over five furlongs, which is expected to attract some of the country’s best sprinters.

Musselburgh Racecourse Head of Marketing and Business Development, Aisling Johnston, said: “The Edinburgh Cup meeting ticks all the boxes for thrilling sporting action, fashion, fun and fantastic food options and continues to grow in popularity year on year.

“Top quality racing is the main attraction but marrying that with superb entertainment and fashion and food theme makes Edinburgh Cup day at Musselburgh a hard-to-beat Saturday afternoon out.

“We’re proud to continue building the event with the support of Edinburgh Gin and we expect another fantastic crowd for what has become one of the highlights of the summer at Musselburgh.”

Racegoers will also be able to watch The Epsom Derby live on big screens around the course, ensuring fans do not miss any of the action from one of the biggest days in the Flat racing calendar.

Away from the track, the Main Stage entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon before the popular After Racing Party gets underway following the final race, featuring crowd favourite, the live sing-along band Massaoke.

The Edinburgh Gin Botanical Bar will return with a selection of botanical-inspired  cocktails and summer drinks, including the classic Hugo Spritz, while catering outlets across the racecourse will offer a range of street food options.

Fashion will once again play a major part in the day, with Slater Menswear sponsoring the Best Suit Award and racegoers are encouraged to dress to impress, with prizes on offer for the standout looks on course which will be announced by Radio Forth’s Boogie from the main stage.

Aisling Johnston added: “For many people it’s become a tradition to make a full day of it - enjoying the racing, meeting friends, staying for the music afterwards and making the most of one of the best sporting and social occasions in the Edinburgh area.”

Gates open at 11.30am. Book your tickets before midnight on the 5 June and save £3 - on the day price will be £48. Tickets and hospitality packages are available through the Musselburgh Racecourse website www.musselburgh-racecourse.co.uk
